Who needs driver education in Texas?

TDLR says everyone under 25 must take a driver education course for a first Texas license: the full teen course under 18, and a 6-hour adult course (or the full course) at 18 to 24. See Texas requirements.

Can a defensive driving course dismiss my Texas ticket?

Often, yes, if you request it by your answer date, have not taken one in the past 12 months, have insurance and the offense qualifies (not 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph, among other exclusions). See ticket dismissal.

What is New York's 5-hour course?

The DMV pre-licensing course every new driver must complete before the road test, unless they took a 48-hour high school or college driver education program. Filter by 5-hour course to find schools that offer it.

How do I check a driving school's license?

Each listing shows the TDLR license or NY DMV school number from the official file. Confirm Texas licenses on TDLR's provider search; New York schools appear on DMV's list of licensed driving schools.

Can I get a refund from a Texas driving school?

Texas law requires a full refund if you cancel the enrollment contract by midnight of the third day after signing (not counting weekends and holidays), unless the course was completed or its exam failed (Education Code §1001.401).

Why isn't a school listed?

We list only current Texas TDLR licenses with a Texas address and schools on the New York DMV's current list. Expired licenses, out-of-state online brands and New York PIRP (defensive driving) sponsors are not shown.
